Chicago Snowstorm 2011

February was a great month full of firsts for us. One of the most exciting was when we experienced our first snowstorm. Our final measurement for snowfall was over 2 feet I think! This is what our deck looked like.

Yes, that is a ton of snow! Alan was such a stud and he went out and shoveled it.

Of course, he kind of had to so the dog would be able to go out and go to the bathroom. Even then, Gilligan didn't have much space to go and he was surrounded by a mountain of snow!

After taking care of the dog's business, Alan and the kids had to go out and shovel the driveway so we could actually leave our house. It was a ton of work, but they stayed out there for about 2 1/2 hours getting it all done (while I stayed inside and took pictures and made chocolate chip cookies!! hee hee)

Once they were finished, we had walls on either side of the driveway! To give you some perspective, Alex is about 54" tall now!

Of course, the fun couldn't stop there. Abby had a great time torturing Gilligan by throwing him in the snow and making him find his way back to the house through it. (She's so kind to animals!)

It was pretty exciting having that much snow, but we were sooo happy when it finally melted.
